Classes

Winter 2020 and Spring 2020 are next!

We’ll soon be announcing our Winter and Spring Semesters. To give you a hint, we are going to be offering classes in cinematography, documentary and comedy.

Be sure to check out our meetup page which currently has the most up to date info on what we’re doing.

Fall 2019 was a hit!

We had 10 Wednesday Night Filmmaking Classes with 10 different teachers. In addition, thanks to our partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library, we had 4 Saturday hands-on classes and put over 60 area adults who had never been on a film set…on a film set. Thanks to the partnership with the library, we also offered two sessions of documentary filmmaking classes (4 weeks each) and saw newbie filmmakers go from huh? to making a short doc in just a few weeks! We love forming a cohort of students to journey through a semester of classes together because they bond and help each other with projects.

Fall 2019 Wednesday Night Filmmaking Classes

Who: Our classes are for adults 18+. Most attendees are in their 20s-50s. Skill level ranges from newbies to people who have made a few short films (and even won some major local awards as indie filmmakers).

What: Taking classes here and there on an a la carte basis is permitted. However, we also want to build a cohort of people who will take all 10 Wednesday night classes together.

Where: Our 10 Wednesday classes are taking place at Advent Coworking in Plaza Midwood (park on street or free gravel lot across Louise Avenue). Come to the front porch of Advent which faces Otts Street.

When: Our 10 Wednesday classes start at 6:30pm and end at 8:30

Why: We want to help you make more/better films, meet people and work together to create more. From our first cohort (spring 2018 semester) we’ve seen deep friendships formed, people have won awards with films they’ve worked on together and they’ve gotten deeper into this world of indie filmmaking.

How: We provide light snacks, awesome, clean, convenient classrooms, free parking and the best local film professionals to teach you.

Additional Classes – Fall 2019

Thanks to our partnership with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, we are offering a workshop on Screenwriting, (4) Saturdays hands-on filmmaking experiences for adults who have not been on a film set before and (2) documentary filmmaking classes. Check out all our classes here.
